Universal Audio has announced the release of the unique A-Type Multiband Dynamic Enhancer plug-in, which, according to the developers, is the first and only full emulation of Dolby’s multiband compressor/expander. This plug-in reveals the secret to the sound of the vocals on iconic albums, offering engineers and producers a versatile tool for creating powerful, rich vocal mixes.
Designed exclusively for Apollo interface and UAD hardware users, A-Type includes the famous Air, Excite, and Expand modes used on such legends as Queen, AC/DC, Stevie Wonder, Fleetwood Mac, Journey, and The Cars. In addition, the plug-in offers Crush and Gated modes for powerful analog compression or the signature 1980s-style gate effect, especially useful on drums and instrumentals.
Additional flexibility is provided by the Circuit Mods panel, where the user can manually adjust the processing parameters, going far beyond the capabilities of the original hardware device. Available options include advanced expander processing, transient shaping, subharmonic creation, and much more.

Compatibility and technical requirements
The plugin only works with Universal Audio DSP accelerators, such as Apollo interfaces and external UAD cards. There is no native version, so UAD platform support is required for use.
