iZotope has rolled out Ozone 12, the latest evolution of their flagship mastering suite. This update introduces three completely new modules, a more flexible Master Assistant, and a refined limiting algorithm for the Maximizer. Together, they streamline the mastering process, making it easier to achieve polished, release-ready results — even when the original mix is far from perfect.
What’s New in Ozone 12
Stem EQ
A hybrid tool that combines stem separation with traditional EQ. Instead of going back to the multitrack session, users can directly shape vocals, drums, bass, and instruments within a stereo file. This makes surgical fixes and creative adjustments much faster.
Bass Control
Powered by machine learning, this module focuses on the low end. It ensures that bass and sub frequencies remain tight, powerful, and well-balanced across different playback systems — from headphones to club speakers.
Unlimiter
Designed for over-compressed audio, this processor brings back lost transients and restores dynamic range. It’s a valuable option when working with tracks that sound flat or lifeless due to excessive limiting.
Master Assistant & Maximizer: More Options, Less Guesswork
The AI-driven Master Assistant is now customizable. Producers can decide which modules to include, set LUFS targets, and choose from a broader range of style presets depending on the genre. Meanwhile, the Maximizer now features the brand-new IRC 5 algorithm, delivering loudness and clarity without the pumping or distortion that often come with aggressive limiting.
Music Production Suite 8
Ozone 12 is also part of the refreshed Music Production Suite 8, which now bundles Ozone 12 Advanced with the full Catalyst Series (FXEQ, Velvet, Cascadia, Aurora, Plasma). The collection totals around 100 plugins, including updated versions of Neutron 5, Nectar 4, RX 11 Standard, plus a wide range of effects from Native Instruments, Plugin Alliance, and Brainworx.
