Sinevibes Malfunction v3: New Mode and 4× Oversampling

November 7, 2026

Malfunction v3.0

Sinevibes has released Malfunction v3, a major update to its circuit-bent filter and distortion plugin. Version 3.0.0, released on October 29, 2026, adds a second character mode, 4× oversampling, expanded LFO modulation, and support for macOS, Windows, and Linux. Malfunction v3 is available for $29.

A New Filter Mode and Updated Processing

The main addition in Malfunction v3 is Mode B, a new circuit-bent filter character alongside the original Mode A. The two modes offer different tonal responses for creating aggressive, unstable, and unconventional filter effects.

Version 3 also adds 4× oversampling to reduce aliasing artifacts associated with nonlinear processing. According to Sinevibes, this produces a less harsh sound while preserving the plugin’s circuit-bent character.

The plugin retains its state-variable filter, with low-pass, high-pass, band-pass, notch, and peaking modes. Users can arrange up to four filter stages in series, with slopes of up to 48 dB/octave. An input noise gate with an adjustable threshold is also available to control the signal entering the processing chain.

Expanded LFO Modulation

Malfunction v3 includes two through-zero LFOs with 15 waveforms. Both can sync to the host tempo and transport, while a variable bipolar stereo offset allows independent modulation of the left and right channels.

The LFOs can create rhythmic filter movement, evolving stereo effects, and less predictable modulation patterns. Lag filters smooth changes to continuous parameters, helping prevent clicks during adjustments.

Malfunction supports mono-to-mono, mono-to-stereo, and stereo-to-stereo configurations. The redesigned interface offers scaling from 80% to 200%, along with built-in preset management.

Compatibility, Pricing, and Availability

Malfunction v3 expands platform support, adding Windows and Linux compatibility alongside macOS. Supported formats and system requirements are as follows:

  • macOS: AU, VST3, and AAX; macOS 10.13 or later; 64-bit Apple Silicon and Intel.
  • Windows: VST3 and AAX; Windows 8.1 or later; 64-bit Intel and AMD.
  • Linux: VST3; Linux 2020 or later; 64-bit Intel and AMD.

Malfunction v3 costs $29 and is available directly from Sinevibes. A demo version can also be downloaded from the developer’s website. No introductory discount or separate upgrade price has been announced.

Malfunction v3 retains its focus on unconventional filtering and distortion. The addition of Mode B, 4× oversampling, and expanded modulation gives producers and sound designers more options for creating unusual filter effects and electronic textures.
