Misremembered Plugin: JPL Music Samples’ New BBD Delay

November 4, 2026

JPL Music Samples Misremembered

JPL Music Samples has released Misremembered, a delay plugin built around a modeled bucket-brigade device (BBD). It combines short delay times with pitch modulation, signal degradation, and stereo plate reverb. Announced on November 3, 2026, the plugin is available through Loot Audio.

Misremembered focuses on the character of BBD processing, including pitch instability, noise, and progressively degraded repeats. Its controls let users shape how the delayed signal changes with each repeat.

BBD Modeling and Signal Degradation

According to JPL Music Samples, Misremembered models a bucket-brigade delay with 1,024 stages. The developer says the design reproduces characteristics of BBD circuits, including pitch wobble, noise, and signal degradation.

The plugin offers three BBD Tone modes: Clean, Worn, and Broken. Other controls add noise, bias drift, and dropouts, while Wow, Flutter, and Drift introduce pitch modulation. The Fidelity control adjusts the balance between the degraded BBD sound and a cleaner delay signal while retaining modulation.

Forget changes how the effect responds to incoming audio. Sustained notes gradually become more degraded, while newly played notes start clean. This creates a different texture over time rather than applying the same level of degradation throughout the signal.

Ghost adds a subtle pre-echo intended to emulate tape print-through. Input Drive applies saturation before the delay, and Dust uses filtering to darken the signal.

Short Delay and Stereo Plate Reverb

The official Quick Start Guide lists a delay-time range of 18–43 ms. This makes Misremembered better suited to short-delay coloration and modulation than to conventional long echoes or tempo-synchronized repeats.

The plugin also includes a stereo plate reverb with adjustable length and mix controls. Its signal path consists of Drive, BBD Delay, Tape, Reverb, and Main stages. According to the developer, changing or automating the Delay control produces pitch shifts similar to those caused by varying tape speed.

Misremembered comes with 15 factory presets and a randomize function.

Compatibility, Price, and Availability

Misremembered is available in VST3 format for Windows and macOS, with AU support on macOS. System requirements list 64-bit Windows 10 or 11 and macOS 10.13 or later. The plugin supports both Intel and Apple Silicon Macs and requires approximately 20 MB of disk space.

The introductory price is $21, down from the regular $30, through December 5, 2026. A fully functional 14-day trial is also available, according to the developer’s Quick Start Guide.

Misremembered can be purchased through Loot Audio. Product information and trial details are available on the developer’s website.

Misremembered’s BBD Delay Character

Misremembered combines short BBD-style delay with adjustable signal degradation and the note-dependent processing of its Forget function. These features give producers options for adding pitch movement and tonal texture to synthesizers, instruments, and other sound sources. With a delay range of 18–43 ms, the plugin is aimed at short-delay coloration rather than conventional echo effects.
