NUGEN Audio has released VisLM 3, an updated version of its professional loudness metering plugin. New features include linked stem monitoring, Loudness-to-Dialogue Ratio (LDR) measurement, timestamped notes and support for channel configurations up to 9.1.6. VisLM 3 is available now at an announced price of $499.
New Features in VisLM 3
Stem monitoring is one of the main additions in VisLM 3. Multiple plugin instances can link automatically, allowing engineers to view loudness measurements and history from separate stems in a single window. This makes it easier to monitor dialogue, music and effects individually while keeping their levels in context with the full mix.
The updated Flags and Notes system adds timestamped comments directly to the loudness history graph. Based on NUGEN’s Jotter technology, it lets engineers annotate specific points in a session and share those notes with collaborators through CSV export.
VisLM 3 also adds Loudness-to-Dialogue Ratio (LDR) measurement, which compares overall programme loudness with dialogue loudness. The metric is relevant to workflows governed by dialogue loudness requirements, including those covered by EBU R128 Supplement 4.
New loudness presets include support for EBU R128 Supplement 4 and ATSC A/85:2026-07. These presets provide measurement configurations for the respective loudness recommendations and broadcast practices.
For delivery and quality-control workflows, VisLM 3 adds Loudness QC Report export. The plugin also expands its maximum channel configuration from 7.1.4 in VisLM 2 to 9.1.6, supporting larger immersive audio formats.
VisLM 3 vs. VisLM 2: What’s Changed
VisLM 3 retains the core loudness measurement tools found in VisLM 2, including integrated, short-term and momentary loudness, Loudness Range (LRA), Dialogue LRA, True Peak measurement and timecode-locked loudness history through NUGEN’s ReMEM technology.
AudioSuite support and loudness overdub are also carried over. The main changes are the addition of linked stem monitoring, timestamped notes, LDR measurement, QC report export and support for channel configurations up to 9.1.6, compared with VisLM 2’s maximum of 7.1.4.
The updated interface is also more configurable. Together, these changes give engineers more ways to monitor separate elements of a production, document loudness-related feedback and check multichannel deliverables within the plugin.
Compatibility and Technical Specifications
VisLM 3 is a 64-bit plugin available in VST3, AU and AAX formats. It also supports AudioSuite for compatible Pro Tools workflows. NUGEN Audio lists macOS 11 or later and Windows 10 or later as minimum operating system requirements, with at least 512 MB of RAM.
The plugin supports channel configurations up to 9.1.6. Full ReMEM functionality requires timecode synchronization from the host DAW or NLE.
Price and Availability
NUGEN Audio VisLM 3 is available now for $499. Existing VisLM users can find upgrade options through their NUGEN Audio accounts. The developer also offers a 15-day fully functional demo.
With linked stem monitoring, LDR measurement, expanded channel support and Loudness QC Report export, VisLM 3 adds several practical tools for engineers working in broadcast and post-production. The update is particularly relevant to workflows that require loudness monitoring across dialogue, music, effects and multichannel deliverables.
